One must ask. If the goverment prints and controls money why are we in debt...oh the Federal reserve was created in 1913 and WW1 was in 1914. The Fed loans money to the government over and above it can tax.

His info is basically correct. I don't see many people arguing facts here. We should not be borrowing money from private banks (at interest) to run our country. That is the simple truth.
america is not like ... ( 1 month ago by thecannibalchef)
america is not like a firm that goes bankrupt when they don't have the cash to pay their debt. a firm that prints its own cash (america), will always have the cash to pay back its debt. the less the world wants our products, the weaker our dollar gets, the cheaper the dollars are with which we can repay our debt, the more profitable it will be to produce things domestically, and then our currency recovers. it's a self-correcting system. this guy is a moron and his argument is full of caveats.

The more money a country prints, the less it is worth. The more that you print, the more you will need to pay back.
Zimbabwe has this problem now - the idiot just printed a whole load of cash to pay for his election campaign.
Inflation is at 1000%, and a bread roll costs a billion dollars.

$6 trillion (now 9) ... ( 1 month ago by thomasst2)
$6 trillion (now 9) is just what we've borrowed for now. That figure doesn't include future obligations such as Social security payouts, veteran benefits, pensions, etc. The $600 billion surplus is a BUDGET surplus after paying yearly bills, not a surplus after paying ALL DEBT. Like having a surplus after paying mortgage but still having the whole home payment. Our actual debt is $75 trillion. With our current BUDGET deficit it will get larger.

Hyperinflation is a death knell for any government and any society. If you think we can print our way out of the balance of payments crisis, you're delusional.

i didn't say it ... ( 1 month ago by thecannibalchef)
i didn't say it wasn't going to affect our standard of living. it will: we are due for a big increase in our inflation rate anyway, and as that occurs, all of our debt will become cheaper to pay off, since we are paying it off in nominal dollars, not real dollars. it will take more nominal dollars to buy products domestically and to import, but that's a result of our imprudent lending. borrowing only works when growth is expected, and our economy is stagnant. therein lies the problem.

michiganBUM, you must be zombie Demokraut. That idiot DID NOT HAVE A SURPLUS, he used money FROM SOCIAL SECURITY to inflate his 'surplus'. And if you are an American, then you don't know that his millions of 'jobs' 'created' were flipping hamburgers at McDonalds, and roasting chickens at KFC... NOT to mention the millions of jobs created FOR ALL THE ILLEGAL ALIENS he and his traitorous wife, Hitlary Clingon, have endorsed, stimulated, and even pursued, since they have had access to power.

No im not a democrat or a republican..I see my country going down the shit so im worried because the republicans have created this debt..and no your wrong..Clinton's jobs were mostly from the internet surge in the 90's, not from flipping burgers..and you have it the other way around..Reagan took money out of social security and tripled the national debt..oh ya ur boy Bush..hes done a great job making the debt grow from 4.5 to 9.5 trillion in almost eight years..You're one closed minded person...

"we are due for a big increase in our inflation rate anyway, and as that occurs, all of our debt will become cheaper to pay off, since we are paying it off in nominal dollars, not real dollars."
This is flawed logic. Usually high inflation is also accompanied by higher interest rates.

The people have to change. There is only so much that a politician can do. American people have to start educating themselves, finding out what happens in other countries and borrowing the good ideas...
