Here is an extremely memorable piece of footage where 5-time world champion, Juan Manuel Fangio, aged 66, races against Jack Brabham. The 4 lap 'demonstration' was run after the Australian Grand Prix at Sandown in 1978. With Fangio in his W196 Mercedes Benz and Brabham in his Repco Brabham, a car 12 years newer than Fangio's.
An awesome exhibition of great racing cars, pushed to their limit against one another, a special clip.

Fangio was 67 and Brabham 52. The Brabham handled better although the Mercedes seemed faster on the straight. But Fangio surely hidden this fact to surpass Jack before crossing the line on the last lap.

Fantastic vid! Of course, we know Jack couldÂ´ve pulled away easily, Fangio notwithstanding. But he was just as sport and gentleman as Fangio. Great sounds! Do you have other demostration drive matches? Thanks.

Please get real, Brabham didn't drive flat-out. W196 had less power, 300+ kg more, higher center of gravity, narrower tires, inferior suspension... There's just no comparision between the two cars, Brabham is superior in every way, and much faster.
Laptimes comparision:
Reims: 2:29.4 (W196) vs. 2:10.2 (Brabham)
Spa: 4:22.1 (W196) vs. 3:41.8 (Brabham)
Nurburgring: 9:50.1 (W196) vs. 8:20.8 (Brabham)

Wow. I can't believe these guys raced in Sandown Park, Victoria - Australia. I live in Mulgrave which is 1 minute from Sandown. Wish I was born to see it lol. They should do exhibitions again.
