is that the important thing now is it? no, fraid no 'pro era' world cups. but we have won 8 tri nations, regularly beat the boks and wallabies, have NEVER lost to scotland, argentina or ireland and dont struggle against italy.
im sure your pro era world cup keeps you warm during the long hard pumpings youve taken at murrayfield recently. do scotland even have a professional team?

if u want to compare rugby history, you will find england very succesful, seen as we invented the game... and over half ur team are decended from english settlers. you also seem to lose to france routinely in world cup semis.

against the all blacks you are 24-6 down. 1 in 5 isnt all that successful. one world cup a piece (granted ours wasnt in the all important 'pro era', but you are now talking 'historically'). please tell me you arent claiming world cups on descent. you would have won them all by that logic what with all those aussie and bok descendants.

It's about time the Eagles make some progress in the rugby world. Too bad Americans aren't a patriotic bunch when it comes to sport otherwise you could be a powerhouse like NZ, SA, France etc...

Don't remember the last time a tight head got the upper hand on England's Andrew Sheridan. I'm really looking forward to Lions vs SA 2009. The beast vs Sheridan should be a really interesting match up, both are complete monsters... (PS i don't want ppl saying he isn't that good, he's the best in the world at loose head and I certainly don't think there are any British props that come close to his talents in the scrum and rucks, open play may be a different matter)

You're right he didn't dominate that game -the whole England team looked like schoolboy's last time they played NZ. They're actually as individual players a very talented bunch. Sheridan tends to be a player very effected by the mood of the game, if the teams great he's epic ( RWC:vs Austrlia, 6 nations vs France). If they stutter he falls apart a bit. I think on his day he could dominate anyone he wants. That said Hayman is a very talented tight head - I think it's a shame he's at Newcastle.

I'm pretty sure we are pretty patriotic about sports, just not rugby. I wish we were, because we would dominate if we had the bodies similar to those playing in the NFL and College Football. But we are still patriotic about sports, look at the Olympics.

Sheridan was ground to peices by Carl hayman when they met. Was even beaten by somerville earlier this year and sommerville is a small prop
