That was a cumulative audience. Its the 3rd largest television audience in the world for a major competition (after Soccer WC and Olympics)

on the other hand the olympics are better suited for sports in which the Olympics are the highest. Which it would not be for rugby (soccer too but whatever). sevens rugby would be preferable from that standpoint.
But any rugby would be prefferable to me, I'd be able to watch some that way (no rugby aired in America).

i have to say i 100% agree with this, rugby is the second most-watched sport (cumulative) in the world, i find it hard to believe it isnt in the olympics, when in the olympics they have such things as beach volleyball, BMX, water polo and others which to me are more recreational activities than international competitive sports. Rugby is ideal for the olympics and to be honest i must question the intelligence of the olympic committee for not including it...

It does. Once in a while, ESPN might air something. But it averages one game per three months or more. And they air it when no one can watch it anyway. Luckily, there's this handy thing called the internet. So I can watch at least a little rugby.
On the other hand, most colleges have men's and women's club teams. So I can play some during the fall and spring.

Unfortunately, I'm in college right now. So I only get basic cable at college (assuming I can get a tv) and during the summer whatever my parents sign up for.
And I can never find out when ESPN is airing rugby. I know they aired some US college finals and a few other games this summer but I can't find a more definitive schedule.

I'd love to see sevens rugby in the olympics. The rugby world cup is the third biggest sporting event in th world and it drew the biggest crowds in the commonwealth games 06. If crap sport like baseball and softball are there why cant rugby? and the IOC have never seen or heard of rugby so it looks like 2016
