yes and if you do a thorough study you will learn that they went to Africa and while there they heard this chant. Solomon said we have to learn that chant, and with permission from the tribal leader they were taught how to sing this original version, from the swhaheely tribe or how ever you spell it. and they brought it back, and from there the rest is history.

A lawyer DID take up SL's case. He DID make some $ Though it was not nearly the 20 million that the song has earned in royalties over the years.
Solomon Linda was a Zulu tribesman they were paid in chicken and goats for their performances in S Africa, then after the shows they BBQ'd and shared with the audience. When he heard that his song was a hit in USA, he was thrilled that someone recorded his song, he was never bitter about the $. His sister received his estate after SL's death.

Back in the late 60s I played for my father a "new" hit single - 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'. It was one of the few times my father laughed with unrestrained amusement. Now, I know why. Thank you for giving meaning to a cherished memory.
