I trade currencies so I watched that drop in real time. It is interesting I think that with inflation pushing the middle class around, and obviously being a persistant problem, the rates were slashed to (IMO) just save the banks that seemed to have no idea about risk management. Taking it from a currency only perspective, the rate cut was the worst possible thing to do as far as the USD goes.

If a tip was a good tip or a bad tip oftentimes depens on the timeframe you want to invest in. What he said is true, interest cuts in a bad market will alleviate the pain delaying further sacking, but when rates are at the horizon, you better be long for that day.

there is a positive correlation between the market and interest rates because the Fed cuts rates when stocks are already destined to drop due to adverse economic conditions...lowering rates will indeed either cause stocks to rise or cause them to fall at a slower rate than they would have if the Fed didn't act. A rate cut matched with an immediate drop in the stock market is due to the cut being less than what analysts had anticipated (in a way, it's the equivalence of a rate increase).
