Roy Orbison was a true Genius when writing songs and singing them. No one sounds like him no matter what interpretation they try to do.
His delivery of his songs makes you aware of his style that sings with his heart and soul. How many men can sing like that - not one at this time!!

Yep. That is Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, James Burton (Elvis and Jerr Lee lewis's lead guitarist.) Most of Roy's friends in that concert later turned out to be famous.
There was Elvis, Jerry Lee, Buddy Holly, Ray Charles and then there came along Roy Orbison who blew the Rock Charts away. Pretty Woman was probably his greatest hit.

The interesting thing about this song is that despite the fact that Roy had such an amazing voice and you wanna say that he completely owned this song, it's simply not the case. The song is so beautiful that it can make almost anyone singing it sound good. That's why there are so many covers. Combine that fact with a perfect performance with the voice himself where he lays it all on the line live like this and you get pop music perfection. Gorgeous performance. Gorgeous song.

Although there are many covers of the song many are either unsuccessful or clip the ending. In terms of unsuccessful Del Shannon and Gene Pitney can be numbered, this is despite the fact that the latter was a great singer. Don McLean does a beautiful rendition, but the ending does not near Roy's.
